Commission, ABAG Executive Board Approve Plan Bay Area 2050+ Final Blueprint

MTC and the Association of Bay Area Government (ABAG) this month approved further study of the Final Blueprint for Plan Bay Area 2050+.
At the Commission’s Wednesday meeting and the ABAG Executive Board’s Jan. 16 meeting, staff presented the long-range plan’s growth geographies and strategies, as well as the final transportation and resilience project lists recommended for modeling and analysis over the coming months. This follows a December 2024 presentation to the MTC Planning and ABAG Administrative Committee in which staff provided a more detailed overview of proposed transportation strategies and projects, weaving in recommendations from the Final Transit 2050+ Network development process.
Staff expect to release the Draft Plan Bay Area 2050+, Draft Environmental Impact Report and Draft Implementation Plan for additional public feedback and engagement this summer, with formal adoption by MTC and the ABAG Executive Board of the final Plan Bay Area 2050+ in early 2026.
MTC and ABAG last month released the final update to the Equity Priority Communities (EPCs) geographies, EPCs are used to identify funding and public engagement priorities. The final Plan Bay Area 2050+ Equity Priority Communities Map ensures that no EPC tracts previously identified as part of Plan Bay Area 2050 will lose EPC status in Plan Bay Area 2050+.
